Not really sure where to start or what exactly what I want to say.

Wondering if I am making the right decisions in life is one of the hardest uncertainties I will ever have to face. Back in 2000 I made the decision to move out to Seattle because I was so sick and tired of the mid-west weather and the people in general. I needed to expand myself and my horizons well I did both by gaining weight and learning new things. Well I gained a new perspective on things (the horizons part) by living alone and being far (2800 miles) away from family.  I know everyone thought I was nuts for moving on the other side of America but at the time I had to do it for myself. Yes, it is crazy to live in an area that has rain 9 months out of the year. My wife complains about the rain all the time saying how depressing it is. I have always kept a positive outlook on things such as rain by saying "I never heard of anyone who has shoveled rain" I really hate snow with a passion and yes that is ironic because I plowed snow for awhile before I moved here in June 2001 before the towers fell on that horrible day I will never forget. I was in my apartment in Kent just south of Seattle. My now wife called and asked if I was watching the news and I said no because I was still sleeping from working a night shift. Watching the horror on television made me feel really scared not for my life but scared of uncertainties of the future of America.

Now in present day America I am getting that scared feeling again and this time I am scared for myself and others that live in a euphoric reality. They feel that the government will always be there for them and unfortunately they have a rude awakening coming. Am I trying to predict when it will happen, well no but I still have that scared feeling that it will happen one day. We need to do so much as a country to prepare but people in general don't want to listen.

This is my list I have gathered from different sources that we must do to strengthen our country.

1. Have money or something that is worth bartering for:
   a. Gold, silver and other precious metals. Also cash.
   b. Booze and cigarettes (for bartering)
   c. Food to feed your family and use to barter for other things you need.
   d. Water fresh from renewable source or at minimum bottled water.
   e. Batteries (all sizes even 12 volt for a car)

2. Have a fuel source for:
   a. Car, truck or whatever you will drive
   b. Heat for warmth.
   c. Gas grill (can be easily converted to burn wood or charcoal)
   d. Generators and have extension cords on hand.
   e. Chain saw, also have a ax and hatchet to split wood

3. Have a way to protect your family:
   a. Own a gun and know how to shoot it for food and protection.
   b. Know how to make simple weapons and what is needed to create theses weapons.

4. Learn how to read paper maps (local and state) do not depend on GPS or cell phones.

5. Create a "go bag" for everyone in your family:
   a. 90 day supply of life or death prescriptions.
   b. Birth certificates, social security cards, passports and drivers licenses
   c. Keep a medical history log for everyone.
       1. Allergies to what foods, plants or anything you might come in contact with.
       2. Diabetes is a big thing to worry about
       3. Stroke or heart attack history is important

6. Create an alliance with your neighbors:
   a. They say there is safety in numbers
   b. Everyone has unique skills
      1. Gardening
      2. Mechanic (car or anything else)
      3. Electronics
      4. Survival and hunting
      5. Cooking on an open fire
      6. Sewing is big for mending or creating clothes
   c. Combine your food supply and resources
   d. Create a neighborhood meeting place

7. Have durable warm clothes and boots.
   a. Forget fashion think carhart or other durable warm clothes
   b. Layer your clothes for warmth
   c. Fresh pairs of socks
   d. Sweatshirts and thermo underwear

I know this isn't a complete list but it is a great start. Please don't dismiss what I have said because your initial thought is that I am crazy. Please take the time to really think about the unknowns in life. Can you afford to ignore the writing on the wall ? When Hell finally breaks loose in America there will be so many people that won't have a clue what is happening. Don't believe me well look at history with Hurricane Katrina victims. When it happens please do what you can to survive because good morals, values and ethics will be thrown out the window.

I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes: "Smile it will only get worse before it will get better"
